We wanted to get the word out to park users that NYC Parks plans to start a much needed path repaving project on the lower park paths this week. As a result, access to the lower paths will be closed from 110th Street to 114th Street. There will also be no access to the restrooms at 112th Street while this project is underway. The park crossing at 113th will not be open but we are told there will still be a way to access the stairs at 114th Street. We do not know how long the closures will be in place but they are expected to remain in effect for a number of months. At the conclusion of this phase of the project, NYC Parks will start the second phase of the repaving at the north end of the park. This second phase is expected to start in the Spring of 2023 and Parks hopes to have it completed before the Summer barbecue season. This northern phase will close the lower path from just north of 120th street to just south of the handball courts at 122nd street. The playground and restrooms at 123rd Street will not be effected. Questions about this project should be directed to Matt Genrich. Matt is the NYC Parks Manager covering Morningside Park.
Parks To Present Plans for 112th Street Cafe Concession to CB9 on Wednesday
Long time residents may recall that back in the early 2000's there was a short lived seasonal cafe on the plaza overlooking the ball fields at 112th Street. After a number of attempts at getting another concessionaire, NYC Parks will be presenting plans for a concession at this location. The meeting begins at 6:30pm and will be accessible via ZOOM at this link. We hope to see you at the meeting.
